Overall Impression
In a nice follow-up to his first book: Origami from Angelfish to Zen, Peter Engel discusses his development as an artist since. He touches on the same themes as in the first book, but puts more emphasis on inspiration and the road traveled by Engel rather than on technical details. While the models in the first book were more technically challenging, usually requiring tissue-foil to get all the layers right, the models in this book can be folded from pretty much any paper, but are more artistically challenging. The themes for the designs are fun and unusual, and the quality of the book is quite high, with beautiful photos and full color throughout.
The book comes with a DVD containing full video instructions for 3 of the models: the top, the stingray and the owl. Also included are a short video profile of Peter Engel, the author discussing the tools and papers he uses (and the tools NOT to use...), and my favorite part: "blunders".
