Step #1Hold bottom flap here with right hand and stretch bird base with left. |

Step #2Mountain fold the model in half. |

Step #3Mountain fold the model in half. Move the top flap up. |

Step #4Petal fold along the indicated lines |

Step 5#Now unfold back to step 3 |

Step 6#Stretch the flap as in step 3, but this time opening up the flaps indicated. |

Step 7#Valley fold the two flaps |

Step 8#Take the inner flap, and fold it out between the slit as in step 5. |

Step 10#The petal is shown straight ahead here. Form a preliminary base within the inner square along the lines shown, allowing the back tail to fold along the valley line. |

Step 11#Here's the preliminary fold completed. Inside reverse fold point "A" up and into point "B". |

Step 12#This view shows the flap with the extra inner material. Fold the inner flap in half, tucking it into the surrounding flap. |

Step 13#Fold the bottom point along a line slightly below the diagonal mid-line. |

Step 14#Fold up again along the horizontal diagonal. Repeat behind on the other two sides. |

Step 15#Reverse fold the bottom corner up on all 3 corners. This will lock the hat together. Turn each of the 3 upper corners inside out, changing the color. "Puff" (not flatten) the points. Crimp one or more of the tassels to taste. |
